Rage's Winning Tradition

2011 Rage Repeats as 7&8B Champs!

After an undefeated regular season, the 7&8B Rage team came from behind in 3 out of 4 playoff games with a stunning last-second goal in the championship game to force overtime and score the league-winning goal.

Our team showed great composure, didn't panic (well, maybe just a little when you wait until 4 seconds are left in the game to tie it!), and played as a team.

Great work, boys!!!

2011 Varsity All Conference Western Champs! Third Place State Champions!

Congratulations to the 2011 Varsity team under the leadership of Coach Dan Willette and Jeff Tureson they placed 1st in the MBSLA Western All Conference Division - undefeated during their regular season.  This great group of boys used their mindset, skills, determination and passion for the sport of lacrosse to maintain their strength on the field.  They ended the season finishing Third in the State Championship! The boy's have grown significantly (physically & mentally) from their first season in 2008 (7/8) establishing the Delano Rage Winning Tradition!  Delano Lacrosse remains  "All the Rage...."

Congratulations to the MBSLA All-State Players & Second All Conference and most importantly All Academic Players !  This Season Delano Rage was highly represented in the MBSLA voting process.

2010 State Champions (7th/8th Grade)

In 2010, Coach Gary Prinsen, Coach Dan Willette, and Coach Damon Kocina guided the 7th/8th grade team to another State Championship victory!  This time beating Orono 7-3.

The 2010 Delano Rage team dominated the 7th/8th grade league, outscoring their opponents 124-24 during the regular season.  A stingy defense and fast-break mentality had all the teams in the district on their heels when playing the Rage.

2008 State Champions (7th/8th Grade)

2008 State Champions (7th/8th Grade)

Delano Rage Lacrosse was started in 2008 when Larry Hunter decided to offer lacrosse as a cross-training oppportunity for 7th/8th grade hockey players.  As the season progressed,  Larry added Dan Willette, Gary Prinsen, Erik Hinz, and Rick Anderson to the coaching staff.   As the players and coaches advanced their skills, the team became a force to be reckoned with.  They were the Cinderalla team of the YLM State Tournament, winning the State Championship Title and bringing home the State Championship Trophy!!

2009 State Champions (JV)

With the success of the 7th/8th grade team in 2008, the interest level increased and Delano Lacrosse added a JV and a Varsity team.  Again, Coach Hunter and Coach Willette, trained a new team of players.  Through hard work, grit, and determination, the JV team went on to bring home another State Championship Trophy!

Final results from this weekend's tournament of 30 teams up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota:

Boys Varsity: 1st Place

Boys 9&10: 3rd Place

Boys 7&8: 1st Place

Girls Varsity: 1st Place

Rage 7&8 Sweeps the B Bracket in White Bear Lake

Rage 7&8 team dominates the B Bracket in White Bear Lake

Delano Rage won the White Bear Lake tournament going undefeated in the B Bracket this past weekend.

Our first opponent was Lakeville 3 on Saturday at 3:30. We came out strong and took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and a 7-1 lead at the half. A dominating performance by Bear with 4 goals/1 assist and RJ with 2 goals/5 assists let us finish the game with a final of 12-1.

Our second opponent was White Bear Lake Black on Saturday at 6:00. Another strong start put us up 3-0 after the first and 5-0 at the half. After the third it was 6-0 and finished with a shutout of 9-0. Kudos to WBL who contested every ground ball, fought to slow every fast break. It was the closest shutout I've ever seen. The score might make you think blow out - but that was a very good team. Our secret was Michael P in goal. His goaltending was superb and the D-line support was suffocating.

Our two wins on Saturday made us the 1st seed in pool B and set us up for the tournament championship at 1:00pm on Sunday.

In Sundays game we faced Bloomington Jefferson's Carolina team that won A pool.

It was a great test for our team. They had some size and speed and they were well disciplined and coached. By far the best goalie we've faced this year (maybe including the spring session). Joel E beat their goalie with a rocket of a shot and Bear followed with a strong move down the center to score and take a 2-0 lead after the first.

Each team having taken the measure of the other, we knew which of their players posed the biggest threats and our D and Middies took away their fast break and good looks. Again Michael stood tall and blanked them in the second with Joel E adding another goal after showing the big wind up then deeking in close for a score.

The game became very possession oriented as Bloomington did good work on the ground balls and possession in our defensive end. After a slight miscommunication and an own-goal in the third, we headed to the final quarter with a 3-1 lead.

RJ sealed the deal with a goal in the fourth that put it out of the reach of the Bloomington squad.

After the game, one of the Bloomington coaches complimented our D-line for plugging up their passing lanes and picking off about a gajillion passes.

With a post-championship victory celebration at B-Dubs, the 7&8 team is showing great team chemistry, cooperation, on-field communication, and intensity.

We're taking all comers.
